The Cancel: DayBreak (New Album)

Having lived in the neighboring country of Romania for most of my life, I have never thought of Ukraine as a hub for delivering prominent artists such as The Cancel.  The much anticipated album has finally been released and I could not be more excited ! I’ve been hooked since my first listen to NY In Night, and it’s fair to say that my love for Nu Soul and Jazz began here. I have selected a few of my favorites from the new album, so pour yourself a glass of red wine and enjoy:

 - When He’s Gone

 - Rainy Day

 - Apollo

Here are some brilliant pieces from The Cancel’s earlier work:

 - NY In Night

 - Summer Tape

 - Morning Cafe

Top 12 of 2012

2012 has been a big year for me. My taste in music and film has flourished as I began to explore a greater variety of styles. My newly found appreciation for soul and R&B enriched my iTunes in color, whilst my grown interest in House and heavier electronic sounds had a large influence on my out goings in the city of London. 2012 welcomed me home in more ways than I could have imagined. To celebrate the contributions of this year, and to let go gracefully, I have created a list of my top 12 tracks of 2012:

12: Satin Jackets – You Make Me Feel Good

11: Alexander O’Neal - If You Were Here Tonight (Lindsay Lowend Remix)

10: ODESZA – I Want You

9: A.Z. & TOR - Save Our Souls (AppleBottom Back2Da90s Refix)

8: Maceo Plex & Jon Dasilva - Love Somebody Else

7: Hackman – Forgotten Notes

6: Brock Berrigan – The Celebration Song

5: Monitor 66 – Triscuits

4: KOVSH – The Basement

3: Noosa – Fear Of Love

2: The Other Tribe - Skirts (Kidnap Kid Remix)

1: Chris Malinchak - These Dreams (ft. Damon C. Scott)

Tweaked Vocals & 90′s RNB

God bless the new generation. There has been a recent wave of beautifully produced tracks nostalgic of 90′s RNB. Having been a child in that era, this hits the spot for me ! One can never have enough of those high pitched female vocals and quirky beats. A sort of obsession took over me with these tunes. Much love to all the producers:

Huskyy - Y◎u D◙n’t W◢nna

SVENGALI - oº˚slow˚ºo

WHY BE - BUGGIN OUT (WHY BEEZY’S TRUST FUND EDIT)

nknwn – 018

Ferris Mular – Whachu Need
